Friday, 8th of August 2014: another recovery…
Hi there, for all of those waiting desperately for another blog entry… here we go:
In the beginning I was just busy unpacking boxes, trying to get used to a different home, getting kids settled, fed and occupied, getting along with the new hospital, broken pianos, TV’s, tables from the move and broken drainage pumps. All things that kept me busy but not really of any urge….until Luka started to feel really unwell. After the first signs of fever on Monday and Tuesday (in the daycare unit of hospital) and the first midnight drive to hospital on Tuesday (trying hard to focus to drive on the right hand side….) we finally ended up on the ward Wednesday morning with rigors, temperatures and Luka just feeling (and looking) rotten. first we thought it is just the chemo but eventually we found out he had an infection (not to be taken to easy…). Being busy with caring for Luka I only realised later that I have no Wifi…..so one excuse for being so slow 😉
Luckily we managed to keep the infection under control, as well as the allergic reaction to the antibiotics, as well as the other kids at home and the defect drainiage pump (thanks o grandma and granddad !) as well as the damaged piano and and and…… But nothing as important as Luka’s MRI on thursday. With all his recent vision problems, temperatures, pains and aches we were almost certain that there must be a reason for this other than chemo….so we had to do an MRI of his head to see if there is any sign of relapse. As you might be able to see from my blogging….all came back good. Furthermore Luka recovered from yesterday to today so much that for the first time in weeks I have the feeling I have my little boy back !!!
On top of that there is some exciting news about an experimental treatment we might undergo in the near future in the pipeline. Still don’t want to talk about it before it is settled but at least it keeps up hope !
If you want to know if we are settled yet…don’t even dare to ask 😉 it is all a walk on eggshells and I try to keep my head up high. It’s quite exhausting juggling with all those balls at the same time and building a nest to snuggle into at the same time. With all friends either far away or on holidays we feel the summer hole to the full extend and are all a bit ‚homesick‘.
Anyhow….as we said, one door closes and a new one will be opened….let’s hope for the new door !!!
With regard to the pics, cats seem to get used to the new surroundings, Annika as well 😉 we need to get used to the clinic (when I wake up at night I still start speaking english to the nurses ….), Luka was quite happy that they hold sheep on clinic grounds (I wasn’t !!!) and today Luka just looked so lovely !!!!
Liebe Steffie,
endlich…..
Sehr cool
